Empowerment
quantifies the choice to act in different ways. The more possibilities
an individual or agent has to perceive the influence of its actions,
the higher is its empowerment. This analysis is relevant in evolution,
because a higher empowerment can help to survive. Empowerment can be
related to information theory, since it can be considered as a universal
principle. Thus, it may also applied to technical problems.
The following presentation shows a first approach to apply the empowerment
principle to the control the voltage of an electrical grid.

of electrical distribution grids",
